Dolly Parton was born on the 19th of January 1946 at Locust Ridge Tenn. She was raised with 12 other kids. The vivid imagination of her mother allowed her to escape the savage realities of daily life. Her songs were written before she was able to write or read. At the age of 8 when she bought the first electric guitar she owned and began singing on the Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. The same year she released her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. In high school, she was able to make her mark locally however she longed for a bigger stage. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host in the late '60s, was looking for a female singer on his show. Parton was appointed in the year 1967 and signed by RCA Records by 1968, she joined the Grand Ole Opry. Parton left the show but in 1974, because her albums on her own like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene beat out their collaborative albums.
